Playing XI: The Unseen Battles.
Episode 2nd: Select the Playing XI.
The college grounds were buzzing with activity as students from different branches gathered to watch the annual inter-branch cricket match between Computer Science and Mechanical. Sachin Tendulkar, a former MIT student and renowned PT master, stood on the sidelines as the principal rang the bell to signal the start of the match.
Ravi Shastri, an ex-student and senior lecturer in the Mechanical branch, took his position as commentator for the match. The atmosphere was tense as Computer Science won the toss and chose to bat first. Virat Kohli, the fierce captain of the Mechanical team, led his players onto the field with determination in their eyes.
Computer Science put up a strong fight, but it was Kohli’s explosive batting that stole the show. He scored a whopping 82 runs off just 35 balls, leaving the CS team shocked and trailing behind.
But Hardik, known for his lethal bowling, struck twice in quick succession and brought hope to the CS team. In the end, they managed to set a competitive total of 132 runs.
As Mechanical began their chase, KL Rahul emerged as their star player, scoring a quickfire 50 off just 20 balls. However, Mohd Siraj’s fiery bowling changed the game once again as he claimed three key wickets.
But MS Dhoni, the master tactician himself, joined forces with Rahul and turned the tide back in favour of Mechanical. With Yuzvendra Chahal’s cunning spin picking up vital wickets, it was still anyone’s game until Hardik Pandya came in to bat with Dhoni.
In a nail-biting finish, Dhoni hit a massive six to secure victory for his team. The Mechanical branch erupted in cheers and celebration as they emerged victorious against their rival Computer Science branch. It was a historic win for them and one that would be remembered for years to come at MIT College.
2nd match begin…
[Scene: Cricket Ground at MIT College. The atmosphere is electric as the Mechanical and Civil branches prepare for a high-stakes cricket match. The captains, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin lead their teams with determination etched on their faces.]
Ravi Shastri: “Good evening, folks! Welcome to the grand showdown at MIT College, where the Mechanical branch, under the dynamic leadership of Rohit Sharma, takes on the Civil branch, captained by the wily Ravichandran Ashwin. This is more than just a game; it’s a battle of pride and prestige!”
[The Civil branch wins the toss and decides to bat first. The Mechanical bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, are ready to unleash their fury.]
Ravi Shastri: “Civil branch wins the toss and opts to bat first. A bold decision that could set the tone for this thrilling contest. Bumrah steams in, ready to deliver those thunderbolts!”
[The match begins with high intensity. Despite a few early breakthroughs by Bumrah and the Mechanical bowlers, the Civil branch manages to post a challenging total.]
Ravi Shastri: “Bumrah strikes early! The Mechanical branch is off to a flying start. But hold on, the Civil batsmen are fighting back! Every run is being fought for with tooth and nail!”
[15 overs in, the Civil branch has set a formidable target, thanks to a strong middle-order performance.]
Ravi Shastri: “After 15 overs, the Civil branch has posted a competitive total. Mechanical’s bowlers tried their best, but the Civil batsmen have shown grit and determination. This is going to be one heck of a chase!”
[Mechanical branch begins their chase with Rohit Sharma leading from the front. Suryakumar Yadav joins him, and the duo starts off aggressively.]
Ravi Shastri: “Here we go, folks! Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav are at the crease, and they’re looking to make a statement. The target is set, and the chase is on!”
[Rohit Sharma plays some stunning shots, but the Civil bowlers, led by Ashwin and Jadeja, apply pressure with tight bowling and strategic field placements.]
Ravi Shastri: “Rohit Sharma, leading from the front with some glorious strokes! But Ashwin and Jadeja are weaving their magic, making every run hard to come by. This is high-octane cricket at its finest!”
[Suryakumar Yadav gets dismissed after a quickfire innings, and the pressure mounts on the Mechanical team. Wickets fall at regular intervals, and the required run rate climbs.]
Ravi Shastri: “Oh, what a delivery! Suryakumar Yadav is out, and the Mechanical team is feeling the heat. The Civil bowlers are on fire, and the pressure is mounting with every passing ball!”
[With Mechanical struggling, Rohit Sharma takes charge, hitting a flurry of boundaries to keep his team in the hunt. But the Civil bowlers maintain their discipline.]
Ravi Shastri: “Rohit Sharma is playing a captain’s knock, refusing to back down! He’s taking the attack to the Civil bowlers, but the target is still daunting. Every run is being earned with blood, sweat, and tears!”
[In a dramatic turn of events, Ravindra Jadeja takes a crucial wicket, dismissing Rohit Sharma. The Mechanical team’s hopes start to fade as the Civil bowlers tighten their grip.]
Ravi Shastri: “Jadeja strikes! Rohit Sharma is gone, and with that, the hopes of the Mechanical team take a severe blow. The Civil branch is closing in on victory!”
[Despite a valiant effort from the lower order, the Mechanical team falls short. The Civil branch celebrates a hard-fought victory.]
Ravi Shastri: “What a match, what a finish! The Civil branch has emerged victorious in this epic clash. Hats off to both teams for putting on a spectacular show. Rohit Sharma and his men fought valiantly, but it’s Ashwin’s Civil branch that takes the glory today. This is what cricket is all about — intensity, passion, and the thrill of competition. Until next time, keep the spirit of the game alive!”
[Scene: The sun sets over the cricket ground at MIT College, casting long shadows as the air hums with anticipation. The crowd buzzes with excitement, knowing they are about to witness something extraordinary. The camera pans to the center of the field, where PT sir Sachin stands, ready to announce the legendary playing XI.]
Ravi Shastri: “Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves for a spectacle of epic proportions! The moment we’ve all been waiting for has arrived. PT sir Sachin, the mastermind behind this cricketing juggernaut, unveils his formidable playing XI, a lineup destined to etch their names in the annals of cricketing history.”
[The camera zooms in on Sachin, who lifts the microphone, his voice booming across the ground.]
PT sir Sachin: “In this clash of titans, leading the charge, the epitome of calm under pressure, the legendary captain, MS Dhoni!”
[The crowd erupts in cheers as Dhoni steps forward, a steely resolve in his eyes.]
PT sir Sachin: “Next, the master of chases, the run-machine, Virat Kohli!”
[Virat strides confidently to the centre, his intensity palpable.]
PT sir Sachin: “Bringing flair and finesse, the hitman, Rohit Sharma!”
[Rohit raises his bat, acknowledging the roaring crowd.]
PT sir Sachin: “The stylish stroke-maker, KL Rahul!”
[KL Rahul joins his teammates, a determined look on his face.]
PT sir Sachin: “The dynamic all-rounder, Hardik Pandya!”
[Hardik flexes his muscles, ready for action.]
PT sir Sachin: “The wizard with the ball and the sword, Ravindra Jadeja!”
[Jadeja twirls his moustache, exuding confidence.]
PT sir Sachin: “The cerebral spinner, the professor of spin, Ravichandran Ashwin!”
[Ashwin nods, his mind already plotting his next move.]
PT sir Sachin: “The explosive finisher, Suryakumar Yadav!”
[Suryakumar pumps his fists, feeding off the energy of the crowd.]
PT sir Sachin: “The cunning leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal!”
[Chahal grins, ready to bamboozle the batsmen.]
PT sir Sachin: “And finally, the fiery pacer, the spearhead, Mohd. Siraj!”
[Siraj roars in approval, ready to unleash his thunderbolts.]
